When I completed my first independent film, I expected to feel elated. It had been a dream of mine for as long as I remembered. Within a couple of weeks, I realized perhaps it wasn't. I reflected on the long journey of getting it done and thought about the aspects of filmmaking that I actually did find satisfying. It was the people. Being able to bring their dreams into the fold, if even for that one summer, moved me.

Having struggled with bipolar disorder for the past thirty years, I wanted to be thorough with my examination of why the overall accomplishment felt so hollow. I mean, how many people actually get to accomplish their dream? The disorder has a way or creeping in and making those things seem meaningless and a bitter after taste of entire efforts being worthless. Was this me or something else? It took two years and endless therapy to work it out, but here is my answer: It was about helping others achieve their potential and not my personal satisfaction.

With that epiphany, I have set out on a journey of recovery and self discovery to help others achieve just that, potential. As a NAMI certified Ion Our Own Voice presenter, Connection Support Group facilitator, monthly columnist of "Mental Health Spotlight" for Pennsylvania Bridges Magazine, The Mighty contributor and Director-At-Large for the Pennsylvania Mental Health Consumers Association, I have set out on a path of recovery. Not for myself, but to share my stories of recovery and successes as someone who deals with bipolar disorder in the hopes that if I can connect with just one person who is struggling. In that case, my true dream will be realized.
Writing
Over the years, I've written in a wide variety of formats.: print, electronic, content, proposal, sports, speech and script - for a variety of professional organizations. From technology to political, my diversity and production speed have been my strengths. Currently, I am a staff columnist, features and script writer.

My Creative Work
Independent Film Showcase
In addition to my film, Croaker, I produced a few other projects along my path to the present. One was an online horror-host format independent film showcase. Produced locally with a cast and crew of three, we were able to complete 14 episodes. Within six months time, the show had submissions from around the globe including Austria, Germany, Ireland and the UK. The show even hosted an international film competition.
The Barnabus Bailey character has become a fan favorite as both emcee and host in person at film festivals, premiers and even the Broadway Comedy Club in NYC. I play the egomaniacal, ghoulish thespian who has a penchant for insults.
